Ethical evaluation of health and public health policies, including mental health.

The GEHUCT group has experience in the study and ethical evaluation of health and public health policies.

In this field, they have provided support and advice to the Ministry of Health on public health and the integration of Artificial Intelligence, considering various ethical perspectives. In addition, work is also underway to develop a code of ethics in public health and another in digital health in collaboration with the  Ministry itself.

Public health poses specific ethical challenges that are different from those in the clinical setting. While clinical ethics focuses primarily on the relationship with the individual patient, public health policies seek to protect and improve the health of the population as a whole. This can create tensions between collective benefit and individual freedoms that go beyond patient autonomy and a potentially greater risk of harm or maleficence

For this reason, integrating the ethical perspective into the design and evaluation of public health policies is essential. The GEHUCT group provides knowledge and expertise to contribute to more responsible, equitable and human rights-respecting health policies.
