New therapies and personalized treatments

05 October, 2026

The team focuses its research on the development and evaluation of new treatments for drug-resistant epilepsy and epileptic and developmental encephalopathies. Its activity includes the study of molecules in clinical trials, drug repositioning and the development of personalized therapies, especially for people with rare diseases related to epilepsy.

The group has extensive experience in research into both pediatric and adult epilepsies and works to delve deeper into the causes and mechanisms of the disease, as well as the treatment of epileptic seizures and associated comorbidities. The center is also a reference in the care and research of rare epilepsies, especially those of genetic and structural origin, and is part of the XUEC networks (Network of Clinical Expertise Units) specialized in these pathologies.

Through this combination of clinical and research expertise, the team promotes translational research aimed at transforming scientific knowledge into new therapeutic options and responding to the needs of people with epilepsy, both adults and pediatrics.
