02 June, 2026

Conversational AI  is transforming the way we interact, seek support, and understand digital communication. But  what happens when an AI converses with us as if it truly understands us?

In this session we will explore the evolution of conversational AI, from  ELIZA  to current generative models such as ChatGPT, to analyze its opportunities and risks in the field of mental health.

During the session, issues such as:

  • Simulated empathy and the illusion of understanding.
  • Emotional dependence and technological disappointment.
  • Bias, privacy and clinical responsibility.
  • The limits of AI in relation to the therapeutic relationship and professional judgment.

By Jordi Vallverdú, Researcher at the Department of Philosophy at the UAB and Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science and member of the TECSAM Network.
