Evaluation tool for mobile health applications for depression management
Given the diversity of mobile health applications aimed at monitoring, treating and accompanying people with depression, it is essential to have a tool to evaluate which of these technologies provide value and are really useful for people affected by these mental problems.
The eHealth Lab group is designing the EvalDepApps tool, which aims to identify which mobile applications work best to treat, monitor or provide social support to people affected by depression. This will make it possible to know which tool is most appropriate for each person and whether they are scientifically validated, contributing to better management of depression.
It is a helpful technology both for affected people, as determining the most appropriate app directly affects their quality of life, as well as for health professionals and organisations, to determine the optimal applications and to monitor more precisely how depression evolves on a case-by-case basis.
