The TECSAM Network assembly meets at the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park

57 research groups of TECSAM Network held their annual meeting in the auditorium of the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park.

The TECSAM Network Assembly held on January 28, 2024, featured the prominent participation of the Department of Health of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Fundación TIC Salud Social. During the session, the most relevant moments and advances in mental health were shared.

Presentation of the TECSAM Network

The representatives of the TECSAM Network, Josep Maria Haro, Network Coordinator; Judit López, Coordinator of the Innovation and Promotion Unit; and Iris Mauricio, Communication Manager, presented the achievements reached in 2024 and the upcoming projects. Among the main updates, they highlighted over 400 innovative solutions in mental health identified within the Network and outlined key activities planned until 2025, such as the second edition of the Mental Health Investment Forum, which will be held alongside the Mental Health Innovation Day.

Priorities and Strategic Lines in Mental Health from the Department of Health

Josep Tristany, Director of Mental Health and Addictions, presented the Department’s main lines of action in mental health, emphasizing the improvement plan for Eating Disorders (TCA) and the Acute Home Care Model for adult mental health. The Department of Health aims for a more accessible, effective, and community-oriented mental health system with a proactive approach.

Innovation in Mental Health

Cristina Bustillo, Digital Transformation Manager at Fundación TIC Salud Social, presented three innovative pilot programs born from the collaboration between the Department of Health and the TECSAM Network to address challenges in mental health:

  • PRESTO (Bipolar Disorder Group, IDIBAPS): A digital tool to help primary care professionals treat depression and loneliness.
  • Inclusión (FubIntLab Group, UPF): A gamified platform to improve socialization for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • E-VITAL (Group 17, Consorcio Sanitario de Terrassa): A digital tool to combat loneliness in people with severe mental disorders.

Finally, during the Q&A session, Cristina Bustillo highlighted that these three projects are characterized by their direct focus on addressing the specific needs of the population, ensuring not only their applicability but also a tangible impact on the healthcare system. She also emphasized that these projects are based on solid research, guaranteeing their effectiveness and sustainability.
