Expertise in the development of brain imaging analysis tools
The BCNMedTech group has extensive background and experience in the development of tools for the analysis of medical images of the brain at all stages of life, from prenatal to adulthood, with the aim of characterizing brain changes over time, as well as early detection of neurodegenerative diseases.
Through the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data visualization they are able to identify relevant biomarkers to prevent, diagnose and treat the most prevalent brain disorders, offering personalized medicine to users.
Some of the projects they develop in the field of neuroimaging are:
- They carry out a structural and functional analysis of the brain of people suffering from first episodes of schizophrenia with the aim of studying risk factors and differences with respect to a healthy brain.
- They analyze and predict the evolution and trajectories of the brain over time: how does the brain change from age 20 to 70?
- They evaluate the neurodevelopment of the fetal and newborn brain to detect possible malformations that may lead to neurodevelopmental disorders.
